Today is my first real day on the Master Cleanse/ Lemon Cleanse.
The reason why I have chosen this particular Cleanse is to reset my body and mind.
My intention for this cleanse is to feel more clarity, clean out the system and to release habits and patterns regarding my eating.
I often eat out of boredom or when I need comfort. Lately, I haven't been feeling in my body at all. I would put the sugar jar in the fridge and just be all over the place. So, this Cleanse is also about bringing me back into my body.
Having turned thirty, a couple of month's ago, this is a good way for me to shed my crazy teenage years and twenties.
I would like to adapt a healthier diet, not only for myself but also for my daughter...
The last couple of days I have eased myself slowly into this cleanse. Yesterday, I decided this would be enough easing in for me and I would be ready to start the actual cleanse today. I had 5 glasses of grapefruit juice, mixed with orange juice and maple syrup throughout the day. (No solid food) I finished it off with a laxative tea and an early night, having gone to bed by 7pm.
This morning started with a salt water flush and my first glass of the lemonade, which will sustain me for the next 10 days.
For those of you that don't know, the master cleanse involves drinking 6-8 glasses of lemonade a day, which is made up of organic lemons, pure filtered water, Grade B maple syrup and cayenne pepper.
In the evenings there will be a laxative herbal tea and in the mornings a salt water flush, to help eliminate the toxins in the body.
Apart from purified water and organic peppermint tea, there is no other food or drinks to be digested for the whole duration of the cleanse.
Yes, it will be challenging and should I fall of the horse, I will not beat myself up for it but, I will do my best to last through the whole ten days and document the journey on my blog here.
This morning I woke up already with a clarity, that I haven't felt in a long time. It almost seemed like a veil had lifted. I even managed to prepare my toddlers breakfast (eggs). without any cravings. So, far so good :).
Tomorrow might be a different story, as I heard the second and third they can be the hardest. It will also be my daughters birthday and we will be going to playgroup in the morning. But, I suppose there will never be a right time to do something as drastic as this cleanse.
